Hayes' Story: A Legacy of Love and Hope
Our family is so proud of our heavenly son, Hayes Joseph Pien. At our 20 week check up appointment, we found out that Hayes had several unique heart conditions that would require open heart surgery a few days after his birth. After a healthy delivery, Hayes underwent two open heart operations after the first week of his life. While he fought heroically, had excellent care, and we were right there every step of the way, Hayes’ went to Heaven when he was five and a half weeks old. We (his parents, Rob and Kevyn), his siblings (Cece and Ezra), and our extended family and friends miss him every day, we intend to keep his name alive by supporting others through the Hayes Joseph Pien Organization. We will work our whole lives to honor his name, his place in our family, and his impact on people all over the world.
Our organization leverages all donations raised to further the causes that we support. There are no paid staff and never will be. It is designed purely to help others, and that is what we plan to always do.
Our first fundraising target was to provide 15 new bed systems for the 15 rooms in the Ronald McDonald House at the Children’s Minneapolis campus where our family stayed during and after his surgeries. It became a big snowball with many businesses providing support. The total effort included new beds and bed systems, furniture for every room, flooring, and furniture for the common area.
We will continue to provide updates about our new organization and its goals in the near future. We will for sure be continuing our efforts to support families of children with critical illnesses and diseases as well as provide support for the wo
